A RETÓRICA DA INTENSIFICAÇÃO DE PAPÉIS SOCIAIS E DA EXPRESSÃO DO LUTO NOS GÊNEROS FÚNEBRES: O CASO DOS EPITÁFIOS

Resumo

Como um fato social, a morte integra vários discursos: o religioso, o jurídico, o científico, o policial, o médico, o eclesiástico, o literário e o midiático. Para isso, a família e as demais instituições sociais utilizam diversos gêneros textuais que são responsáveis pela integração do morto em sua nova condição social, de não ser mais um agente que interage na vida cotidiana. Além de mediarem a passagem para essa nova condição social, funcionam também como uma memória social e cultural das atividades realizadas pelos diversos atores sociais. Este trabalho propõe uma análise de como os epitáfio funcionam como práticas mortuárias intensificadoras do sentimento de luto da família e das demais instituições a que pertencia o morto, bem como seus papéis sociais em vida. Palavras-chave: epitáfio, retórica, intensificação. ABSTRACT As a social fact, death integrates many discourses: religious, legal, political, medical, ecclesial, literary and media discourse. In this regard, the family and others social institutions use various textual genres that are responsible by the integration of the dead person in its new social condition. These textual genres mediate the passage to a new social condition and work either as a social and cultural memory of the activities perfomed by social actors. This paper proposes an analysis of how the epitaphs work as intensifier mortuary practices of the family mourning and others social institutions. Besides it analyses how epitaphs intensify social roles. Keywords: epitaph, rhetoric, intensification.
