We present, in general lines, the fictional production of Otávio Mota, highlighting the main aspects of his work. We emphasize the social and hopeful biases that stand out in his texts without abandoning the lyrical-love aspect that is also strong in this production. The reading turns on his works Pensar fluidos (1985), Apocalipse Man (1987) and his poems published in the anthologies Valenciando (2005), Rio de letras (2010) and 4 ases e um coringa (2014). This work points to the presence of epic and tragic aspects in Otavian fiction, accompanied by a concern with social problems, with literary making, with the cultural and identity aspects of his city and, above all, with a desire to change reality. Otávio Mota's poetry is, therefore, critical, ironic, and hopeful.
