Entre a Deusa e a Bruxa: reflexões sobre o imaginário pagão em Agustina Bessa-Luís

Resumo

Resumo Agustina Bessa-Luís, escritora portuguesa contemporânea, realiza em sua produção literária um desafio aos cânones, numa releitura dos códigos instituídos. A condição feminina em uma cultura rigidamente patriarcal é abordada de forma crítica, redimensionando o papel da mulher na sociedade. O embate cristianismo / paganismo, um dos núcleos articuladores de sua produção literária, marca o contraponto efetuado pela mulher ao jugo masculino. Vendo na caracterização e na trajetória das protagonistas uma resistência às pressões falocráticas do cristianismo, nossa análise privilegia a revolução realizada pela escrita agustiniana, nos aspectos narrativo, social e religioso. Acreditando que a herança celta atua como reivindicação do poder feminino, o presente artigo tem por objetivo a análise do elemento pagão como eixo estruturador da subversão proposta pela obra da autora. Palavras-chave: Transgressão, gênero, paganismo Abstract In her literary work, the contemporary Portuguese writer Agustina Bessa-Luís challenges the canons with a reinterpretation of the established codes. The female's place in a rigidly patriarchal culture is treated in a critical manner, redefining the role of the woman in society. The struggle between Christianity and Paganism, one of the principal themes in her literary production, emphasizes women's answer to masculine oppression. By seeing a resistance to the phallocratic pressures of Christianism in the characterization and trajectory of the protagonists, our analysis emphasizes the narrative, social, and religious aspects of the rebellion contained in Agustinian writing. Believing that Celtic Heritage plays a part in the resurgence of feminine power, this article seeks to analyse the pagan element as a structural axis in the subversion proposed in the author's work.
