A VISÃO DE CIÊNCIA, TECNOLOGIA E SOCIEDADE DE ENGENHEIROS AGRÔNOMOS EM FORMAÇÃO A PARTIR DA INICIAÇÃO CIENTÍFICA

Resumo

A formação de engenheiros ganha relevância nas perspectivas dos Estudos de Ciência, Tecnologia e Sociedade (CTS), porque a atuação desses profissionais está ligada à ideia de progresso, pois, é importante que sua formação colabore para uma compreensão social da ciência e tecnologia que considera os antecedentes e consequências sociais do avanço científico e tecnológico. Portanto, o objetivo desse trabalho é identificar a visão de ciência e tecnologia que se propaga no âmbito das atividades de iniciação científica de estudantes de Engenharia Agronômica do Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia do Sul de Minas Gerais (IFSULDEMINAS) e suas relações com a sociedade. A região sul do estado de Minas Gerais, onde o IFSULDEMINAS está localizado, destaca-se no setor agrário. Assim, justifica-se o estudo sobre CTS na formação de engenheiros agrônomos para atender a demanda por profissionais com competências interdisciplinares a fim de buscar um desenvolvimento rural e regional não somente sob as perspectivas econômica, mas também sob as perspectivas social e cultural. Para o desenvolvimento deste estudo foram analisadas as atividades de pesquisa do Programa Institucional de Iniciação Científica, realizadas entre os anos de 2012 e 2014. A partir da leitura e análise dos projetos e relatórios dos bolsistas do curso de Engenharia Agronômica, buscaram-se indicadores dos processos de produção de conhecimento e das visões sobre as relações CTS. O resultado apresentou equilíbrio entre as pesquisas estritamente técnicas e as pesquisas com viés social, demonstrando que a instituição tende a superar a visão tradicional de ciência e tecnologia. VISION OF SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND SOCIETY OF AGRONOMIST ENGINEERING TRAINING FROM SCIENTIFIC INITIATION ABSTRACT The engineers’ education has gained relevance on the perspectives of the Science, Technology and Society (STS) studies due to the fact that the acting of such professionals is related to the idea of progress because it is important that their formation collaborates to a social comprehension of science and technology that considers the backgrounds and social consequences of the scientific and technological development. Therefore, the goal of this study is to identify the vision of science and technology that spreads over the scientific initiation activities of the Agronomist Engineering students of Federal Institute of Education, Science, and Technology of South Minas Gerais (IFSULDEMINAS) and its relation to the society. The South region of Minas Gerais state, where IFSULDEMINAS is located, highlights itself in the agrarian sector. Thus, it is possible to justify the study about STS in the agronomist engineers’ education to fulfill the demand for professionals with interdisciplinary competencies in order to seek a rural and regional development not only under the economic perspective, but also under the social and cultural perspectives. To the development of this study there have been analyzed the research activities of the Scientific Initiation Institutional Program taken between the years of 2012 and 2014. Based on the reading and analysis of the projects and reports from the scholars of the Agronomist Engineering course there was a research on the indicator of the knowledge production processes and of the visions about the STS relations. The result presented balance between the strictly technical research and the ones with a social approach, demonstrating that the institution seeks to go beyond the traditional view of science and technology.
