Abstract

In addition to its biomedical outlines, the issue of HIV / AIDS is present in several artistic languages, including literature, especially in the most different aspects of prose. The present work is based on the importance of Try to understand what I try to say (Bazar do Tempo, 2018), a poetic anthology focused on HIV / AIDS, and also on the potential for research on the theme in contemporary Brazilian poetry. Based on the interpretation of the poem “Célio no Céu, with all sorts of precious stones”, by the Gaúcho poet Angélica Freitas, we consider that the theme is brought from a reality of the first decades of the epidemic, bringing themes lightly and without moralism like death and sex.

Keywords: HIV/AIDS. Angélica Freitas. Brazilian contemporary poetry.
