Abstract: The city appears as a scenario, both in poetic and fictional constructions, from the advent of modernity to contemporary literature. Among the various treatments given to the city in literature, memory stands out. In this sense, the main objective of this article is to propose a dialogue between the works Os telhados (1999), by José Chagas, and Litania da velha (1995), by Arlete Nogueira, in order to investigate the intrinsic relationship between city and memory, as represented in these poetic texts. To do so, we will use as theoretical contribution the studies of Ferreira (2004); Furtado (2002); Lefebvre (2001); Pesavento (2007); Santos (2011), among others.
Keywords: City. Memory. Comparative study.
