HISTORY, MEMORY AND FICTION IN K.: RELATO DE UMA BUSCA (2011) OF BERNARDO KUCINSKI:THE PREFACE AS A READING KEY

Abstract

The present work aims to propose a reading key for the novel K.: Relato de uma busca (2011) by Bernardo Kucinski from the complete preface that appeared in the first editions of the book. Despite its simplicity, we argue that this short text is very significant for a more nuanced understanding of Kucinski's work, since it mobilizes, from the beginning, the issues generated by an elaboration of a traumatic past through literature. We discuss in this article, then, the ancient relationship between history and literature, going through the problematic of the treatment of a painful memory and the genre known as testimonial literature, ending the discussion with a reflexion on the reading pacts that works of this nature demand from their readers.
