Abstract

When Gonçalves Dias composed “Canção do Exílio” in 1843, he was talking about a place which desbribed as “my land”. Through the eyears, contemporary writers also sings their lands, with their own ways and their own space in time. And by depicing in poetry this place, we glimpse the city as a locus of human intereactions, population aggregations, redoubt of memories interspersed of individual and coletive experiences. On this pach, understanding space, specially the city, as an enunciation of a time, a memory, a place, this paper propose3s to make a poet tour through poems of authors as: Ignacio Xavier de Carvalho, Dagmar Desterro, Bandeira Tribuzzi, José Chagas, Ferreira Gullar, Nauro Machado, Dinacy Mendonça, Arlete Nogueira, Celso Borges, Ricardo Leão, Dyl Pires e Natan Campos which ones, as Gonçalves Dias – the great  honered in this Magazine for his bicentenary - they sing their lands, being exile dor not, and by their poetry talk about a city, São Luís - MA. In this tour we look foward to intend which way the poets mentioned above realized, felt, lived, externalized the city, transferring it to poetry, transforming it into a relicary of na era, where it can be seen as enunciative of time, a memory, a place. Reaffirming, we intend to indentify which city emergs in this poems, which city is recued from memory and transforms itself in poetry; what is the landscape of this city, which attributes are destined to it and who lives in this geographic spaces in a given time.
