Coraline (2002), a work by English writer Neil Gaiman, was considered a bestseller and has received several adaptations. The chosen object of analysis for this study was the film adaptation, Coraline and the Secret World (USA, 2009), directed by Henry Selick, under a closer look, in the realm of imagination, the fictional uncanny, and dystopia. The objective is to present archetypes and symbols related to the dystopian elements present in the animation, using the method of bibliographic, exploratory, and descriptive research, in which the idea of fictional uncanny literature will be analyzed, inspired by Todorov (1970) and the Theory of the Imaginary proposed by Gilbert Durand (2002). Finally, we present: 1) Coraline's imaginary metaverse; 2) the timelessness of the narrative, as it inhabits the world of dreams; 3) the door, which becomes the bridge to the parallel world; 4) the process of inserting the buttons into the eyes; and 5) talking animals.
