MILTON SANTOS AND HIS CRITICAL THINKING

Abstract

One of the principal categories of geography is space, and in this work we consider that the contribution that Milton Santos makes in this sense has been very important for the studies that we have carried out in Quintana Roo, Mexico, when analyzing an apparently empty territory or minimally populated, although with a Mayan town scattered in the jungle and on its way to becoming a State and later the most important tourist center in the Mexican Caribbean: Cancún. On the theme of tourism, Milton Santos writes about the central themes, from space to landscape, from territory to the imaginary of cities and technologies, an important basis for challenging individualistic visions of tourism that claim to be only a business and not a complex social phenomenon due to its consequences.
