Abstract

The author of the text makes a study on the contribution of the Illustrious Geographer Milton Santos on fundamental themes of Geographic Science. It shows that the teaching of Geography reaches relevance with studies related to space seen as a dialectical synthesis of “systems of things” and “systems of action” that take place within the capitalist mode of production. It draws attention to Education aimed at citizenship in a Civil Society with enormous social, economic, educational, political and cultural inequalities, increased by the current production mode, aimed at the benefi t of a powerful minority.

José Misael Ferreira do Vale, Faculdade de Ciências da UNESP de Bauru

autor é formado em Filosofi a pela USP. Mestrado em Educação pela FEUSP, Doutor em Filosofia da Educação pela Universidade Católica de São Paulo. Professor de Filosofia da Educação nos cursos de Pedagogia de Marília e Bauru, ambos da UNESP. Professor de Cursos de Pós-graduação da UNESP. Diretor da Faculdade de Ciências da UNESP de Bauru (SP) no período de 1997-2001. Começou as atividades docentes em 1957 como professor primário. Membro da Associação dos Geógrafos Brasileiros, Seção Bauru - SP.
