THE LEGACY OF MILTON SANTOS IN MY ACADEMIC PATH

Abstract

Milton Santos was one of the greatest thinkers in geography. In its theoretical and methodological framework I suppose to guide Brazilian and world geography, demonstrating the active role of geographic space. Bold, creative, curious and independent, he refutes established dogmas and precepts. In addition, its humanist and thirdworldly formation has always praised the ethical commitment to the university and the nation. Thus, Milton Santos ended up being more than a geographer. He became a Brazilian thinker with his own light and ethical commitment. This text aims to present the contribution of the concepts and categories presented by M. Santos and who were appropriated by me. In other words, what legacy of Job M. Santos in my academic career? The methodology used was a bibliographic analysis combined with a commemorative review. In addition to his vast work as a theoretical and methodological reference, his legacy is marked by principles. Therefore, without fear of infl uence, I affirm the importance of the thought of M. Santos in my academic tradition.
