Abstract

This article aims to start a reflection on the municipality of Parintins, state of Amazonas, based on contributions by Milton Santos to urban space planning and premises that encompass socio-spatial development and the right to the city. The analysis is mainly based on the bibliographic review of contributions by Santos, Souza (2006a, 2006b, 2012, 2013) and Lefebvre (1969, 1991, 1999). Based on these contributions, alternatives and possibilities are identified in the theoretical-methodological, but also political and practical scope for understanding the dialectic of that city. In addition, the political and ideological stance of the authors regarding the understanding of conflicts and contradictions present in the urban area offers us subsidies for the understanding of the production and reproduction of the space of the municipality in question.
