Abstract

The objective is to analyze the socio-environmental impacts in six communities surrounding the Serra do Piriá, in the Northeast of Pará. The landscapes were directly affected by human activities (mining, livestock farming, extractivism) and their consequences related to the appropriation of natural resources. The methodology is based on the assumptions of environmental analysis with a view to Geoecology of Landscapes to analyze socio-environmental impacts which, together with renowned authors, will serve as a framework for understanding socio-environmental phenomena, making use of unit delimitations and temporal analysis. Among the main results is the delimitation of seven Geoecological Units (UG), which associated with land use demonstrate degradation. Human activities can cause irreversible changes to the landscapes in question, requiring conservation and preservation actions.
