THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE IDENTITY OF THE “SERINGUEIRO / A ACREANO / A”: AN ANALYSIS OF THE WORKERS PRODUCED BY THAT SUBJECT

Abstract

When we understand the phenomenon of language as the ability that allows us to communicate through a language (MARTELLOTA, 2012), we are led to the fact that language is a uniquely human capacity (CHOMSKY 1980, 2014; FIORIN, 2015; GUSDORF, 1976; KAIL, 2013; KUHL; DAMASIO, 2014). This ability, according to Hall (2016), is linked not only to communication, but also allows us to represent to others the way we face the world around us, our values, customs, culture and identities. In this sense, understanding language as a historically situated social practice, having its concrete and effective realization through the statement produced in real contexts of use and interaction (BAKHTIN, [1979] 2011; BRAIT, 2014; MOITA LOPES, 2006; VOLÓCHINOV, 2017), we propose as the objective of this study to analyze, through Applied Linguistics (LA) transdisciplinary / indisciplinary (MOITA LOPES, 2006), what the statements present in an interview organized by Luisa Galvão Lessa (2002) with “rubber tappers / acreans / as ”can provide in relation to the representations constructed about the set of practices, identities and culture of the“ rubber tapper from Acre ”. For this, we carried out a qualitative research (SILVA, 2015), using an indirect documentary approach (MARCONI; LAKATOS, [1983] 2012), having as source the work The language spoken in the Juruá valley. In this way, this work enabled us, among other things, to realize the need to explore the identity of the “rubber tapper / acrean / a” from the statements produced by the subjects named through this term, directing our attention to the positioning of subjects in relation to identities.
