When we work with the dialogues between literature, history and memory, we can bring up many discussions that reactivate non-grateful memories, especially of certain situations of pain and suffering. In this sense, this article has as its object the study of the work of Carmo Bernardes, Xambioá: paz e Guerra (2005), having as main objective to examine the construction of the memory of resistance in the Guerrilha do Araguaia and its uses through the sources of the Literature of Testimony. For methodological purposes, it will be a qualitative work, based on a bibliographic review on the subject; likewise, we will carry out a content analysis of the corpus of this work. As a result of the research, we consider that violence and fear are one of the marks of literature in Northern Brazil, more specifically in Bico do Papagaio/TO; even if there are attempts to build an official history that hides the pain and trauma of the region.
Key words: Literature of Testimony. Araguaia Guerrilla. Violence. Trauma.
