ANALYSIS OF THE YOUTH SCIENCE FICTION WORK THE UNCOMMON CITIZEN, BY PEDRO IVO

The aim of this article is to analyze the youthful novel The uncommon citizen, written and illustrated by Pedro Ivo, published in its first edition in 2013 and selected in the PNLD Literary 2020 program. In this way, to a young audience, investigating its construction with regard to this genre, with emphasis on innovations in graphic design and thematics, since the work addresses social violence, a much-discussed topic present in contemporary society. Moreover, it includes an analysis of aspects of hybridization that involve the presence of characteristics of other literary genres that are mixed with the novel, such as comics and e-mail. The theoretical foundations are based on studies by Roberts (2018); Colomer (2017); Ceccantini (2010) and Luft (2010). The results point to a novel that brings discussions about power relations and violence in contemporary Brazilian society based on the figure of the hero, who is no longer a flawless national hero, but a citizen who is inserted in an adverse context.
