In an effort to understand the expression of Brazilian nationalism and the complexity of identity in the modern context, in dialogue with the rise of decolonial studies, this research focuses on Anthropophagous Manifesto (1928) by Oswald de Andrade. It questions how its lyrical subject, a collective voice, constructs, promotes, and decolonizes Brazilian national identity while positioning itself as part of it through the discussion of cultural anthropophagy. The methodology involved an explanatory, qualitative, and descriptive approach, analyzing the verses of the manifesto, with a theoretical foundation based on Antonio Candido (1993) on literature, Stuart Hall (2006) on identity, and Walter Mignolo (2017) and Aníbal Quijano (2010) on decoloniality. Thus, the study investigated the identity markers of Brazilian nationalism presented by the lyrical subject in the Anthropophagous Manifesto from a fragmented and decolonial perspective, as it employs linguistic elements and strategies with political and social implications to promote a border-thinking approach that leads to epistemic disobedience. It acts as a catalyst for the expression and reconfiguration of Brazilian nationalism by challenging traditional notions of national identity and fostering the imaginary of Brazilian cultural expressions through the retrieval of the Brazilian people's origins to deconstruct colonial narratives, how the european academicism stronger on that moment (early 20th century).
