: Based on the dissertation Pomeranian Identity: a formative journey revealing buried conflicts (BÉRGAMO, 2018), this article deals with the conflicts posed in the construction of the identity of the Pomeranian people in Santa Maria de Jetibá (ES), evidenced or buried in the local architectural configuration. It problematizes its use as a constitutive instrument of a commodified identity, favoring tourist and political-ideological interests in the name of a supposed cultural valorization. They are theoretical references to Education in the City and the relationship between culture and identity from the Marxist inspiration. It dialogues with studies on the neo-enxaimel of Santa Catarina. For a formative journey, buildings in “Germanic style” are analyzed, which point to a “facade identity”. Thus, it is suggested that the Pomeranian identity cannot do without the reference of social classes. This problematization serves as a subsidy for teaching activities in Basic Education. It also offers a counter-hegemonic formative journey to tourist packages that plaster the Pomeranian identity or homogenize it.
