This study aimed to evaluate the zootechnical performance and water quality during the nursery phase of the shrimp Macrobrachium rosenbergii cultured in oligohaline water under different temperatures in a recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) in the semi-arid region of Pernambuco, Brazil. Twenty rectangular tanks with a useful volume of 4.26 L were used, distributed into four treatments: T1 (24°C - ambient), T2 (26°C), T3 (30°C), and T4 (34°C), with five replicates each. The stocking density was 3.52 PL L⁻¹, with an initial mean weight of 0.024 ± 0.018 g. Shrimp were fed a commercial diet containing 40% crude protein, offered four times daily for 30 days. Water quality parameters monitored included temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH, salinity, total ammonia, and nitrite. Significant differences (P < 0.05) were observed for final weight, weight gain, and total length, with the best results at 30°C and 34°C. The highest final weight (0.15 and 0.14 g) and weight gain (0.12 and 0.09 g) were recorded at 30°C and 34°C, respectively. Temperature and salinity differed among treatments (P < 0.05), showing a directly proportional relationship. The other parameters remained within suitable limits for the species. It can be concluded that the culture of M. rosenbergii in oligohaline water under RAS is feasible between 24°C and 34°C, with the range of 30°C to 34°C being more favorable for growth during the nursery phase.
